First Grader in Trouble - Time To Act

A mom submitted the following

My child went to pre-K and Kindergarten in
Montessori; now we are finding out in
1st grade she\'s behind in reading, gets
things like hot/cold, front/back, confused.
I am wondering if we are just behind or
really having either Dyslexia struggles.

Studies have shown that almost 90% of
1st graders with a word identification
issue will be poor readers in 4th grade

The questions to ask are
- Is there a word identification issue?

- Does your child learn best when they
see and experience information?

- Does your child skip words and lines
when reading

- Is there a significant attention issue?

These questions will help you focus on
your child's strengths and challenges
